Darlings, this morning finds us closing in on the longest night of the year, with Halloween 2013 stretching a distant 324 days away. Today also marks the 200th post here at The Year of Halloween, and I wanted to take a moment to thank you, my dear readers, for your unfailing support and participation in the site. We currently have 518 subscribers on TYoH responsible for 2,320 comments, and I value each and every one of them. In light of today’s milestone and the rapidly approaching end of 2012, I thought it would be time for a quick round up of site news.
First, as some of you have noted, TYoH has a new look! This is a step along the way to a number of site cleanups as the site is moved to self-hosting. As always, your input is valued, so do let us know if you have thoughts on the new design. Also new for TYoH is Acadia’s Horror GIF of the Week. Regular readers surely remember Acadia from the delightfully offbeat 31 Scary Things, and will I hope join me in welcoming him back to the site with a new series. You can also find Acadia on his own site, Superficial Gallery, where I contribute the occasional collection of geeky bikini girls, man candy, and historical trivia.
Speaking of series, our weekly horror short show is going strong with 14 selections featured so far. You can get caught up on the entire archive on the Friday Night Features page, or tune in every Friday for a new spooky short. This spring, I will be collecting the best horror short films around for a mini online film festival of sorts. More details on that to come, lovies, but feel free to nominate any favorite horror shorts in the comments.
In addition to our regular weekly posts, The Year of Halloween will continue to post Halloween and horror how-to, DIY costume and makeup, horror on TV and at the movies, and the rest of those things, beautiful and awful, that provide inspiration for Halloween all year round. Thank you again, my darling readers, for making this site such a treasure. Cheers to the next 200 posts.
