Contest: The Sounds of Halloween

Boys and ghouls, we are in the final run up to the Halloween weekend and, as usual, there is more things to do than there are moments in the day.  Although having just the right spooky soundtrack is key to any successful soirée, a Halloween playlist always seems to be the last thing on my list.

So here’s a little contest to help me put together my Halloween soundtrack: what song makes your Halloween complete?  In addition to winning my (literally) undying gratitude, I’ll sweeten the pot with three free 3-month Slacker Radio Premium subscriptions.

To enter, just leave me a comment with your favorite Halloween song and I’ll randomly select the winners tomorrow afternoon.  If you’re struggling with your own playlist, pop over and check out Slacker Radio’s Halloween selection – they have four different Halloween channels, and with songs by artists like Nick Cave, The Ghastly Ones, Tom Waits, Ministry, and Oingo Boingo, someone over there clearly knows a thing or two about Halloween jams.

Just to get you in the mood, here’s one of my favorite classic Halloween tunes.  Good luck, and happy haunting!

  1. Love CCR’s Bad Moon Rising – funky and spooky, all at the same time!

  2. There’s so many good ones to choose from, but I’ve been digging Wolfman Jack by Binary Star lately.

  3. Is it cheesy if I say Michael Jackson’s Thriller? I like it. 🙂

  4. I love the song In The House of Flies, it plays in Queen of the Damned but I’m not sure who sings it. It’s creepy and reminds me of Halloween!

  5. I agree: Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Runner up: “Monster Mash.” 🙂

  6. I still have a cassette tape of creepy classical music that I love to play on Halloween. “Night on Bald Mountain” is just wonderfully atmospheric!

  7. Cliff Richard’s “Devil Woman” is the one.
