Kittens, next month will mark the 40th anniversary of legendary horror classic The Exorcist. Not only does this film consistently earn top mentions in scariest horror movie countdowns, it was the first horror film to be nominated for Best Picture and is considered so iconic that it’s been selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress. But did you know that unexplained events circled the production, including as many as nine deaths and other injuries, bizarre fires, and enough other unexplained incidents that priests were asked to bless the set on multiple occasions? These kind of mysterious and frightening events are not exclusive to The Exorcist, as many influential horror movies have been plagued by similar on-set occurrences.
