My dears, with just 11 days to go, we are in the home stretch for Halloween! I hope you are enjoying a lovely fall weekend and getting through a few of your Halloween preparations. For those of you still searching for costume inspiration, here’s a collection of 40 of the coolest little kids in costume I’ve ever seen. Perhaps…just perhaps…there’s a bit of hope for you mortals after all.
Darlings, I would love to source the unlinked photos – if you know where the originals were from, please let me know in the comments!

XD I just wanna know how the kid in ‘head in a jar’ collected candy!
I’m picturing some overflowing pockets in that trench coat!
Or…maybe this is the first house, and by the end, he had a bunch of candy in his jar and had to go home. I was a giant pair of pants once (size 5XL…massive on me), and just used the pants as the bag as well as the costume.
Now I feel bad about just taking my son to K-Mart and buying a Darth Vader costume, but I’m not as crafty as these kids’ parents obviously are, darn it! Some of these are so cute, I can’t pick a favorite.
Oh, I wouldn’t feel bad at all. Kids mostly remember having fun, you know? I think that a lot of these costumes are less for the kids and more for the parents and the rest of us grown-ups to d’awwwww over. I bet your son will have a blast next week! 🙂
I like when kids have no idea what they are dressing up as. Sort of makes them more like an accessory!
Heh. Too true. I did wonder if the “Breaking Bad” kids had any idea what they were dressed up as. 🙂
So Cute!! I Have a great one of my girls from 2001… must find it!
Barbara, we would love to see it if you do! 🙂
They’re brilliant, so cute !! The beautiful mermaid is great!! Not sure what my boys are dressing up as yet for Halloween, they’re sadly getting to the age of it not being really ‘cool’ 😦
So glad you enjoyed them, Sharon!
There are some really cute ideas! I can’t wait until I have kids so I can make some costumes for them 🙂
I’m always blown away by the craftiness of the moms (and dads) on here – I have no doubt you would make something completely fun! 🙂
Some great ones here. As a horror writer, I usually scoff at Halloween costumes that aren’t scary, but they’re kids, so I’ll let it pass 🙂
Some favorites? Edward Scissorhands. Head in the jar. Three headed dog. And even though I would question the parent who would put their child in this one, the Alex from Clockwork Orange was pretty stinkin’ good (especially considering the “milk”).
Hope you are having a great month. Here’s to 11 more days.
Paul D. Dail
Well…Paul D. Dail, how fabulous. I agree on the scary requirement, but figure I can let one “cute” post sneak in every year or so without tarnishing my reputation too much. Welcome back – I hope you had a productive and restful hiatus.
Just so you know, the first Harry Potter picture is Harry and Fluffy, Hogwart’s three-headed dog. He is based off of Cerberus, though.
Good catch! Thanks, I have updated it.
No problem. Doesn’t seem like you have a lot of hardcore HP fans reading your blog, so it’s not that big of a deal. I do like the photos.
You just threw done a gauntlet, darling. Good thing no one actually reads the comments. 🙂
True. Didn’t mean to insult anyone; I’m just used to having the small facts like that called out instantaneously. Potterheads are a crazy bunch. I was probably the first one to check your post.
Come by any time – we’re an error-prone bunch around here. 🙂
That is so awesome that you found all these costumes. I love the hulk one- that is adorable!
Thanks, Melissa! I tried to keep the list manageable, but there were so many cute ones, I couldn’t cut it down any more! Maybe I will need to put up part two! 🙂
Really good pictures – cute kids.
Thanks, darling! They are pretty hard to resist, even for me. 🙂
Very neat costumes. Just to warn you, ignore ANYTHING Ivy or Mimi write. It makes no sence. They are insane. himcompany.wordpress.com
My friend Ray explains everything on there in one comment.
Don’t try to figure them out. I have for as long as I’ve known them, and that was a waste of time.

Acadia is disappointed that they haven’t been by to say hi at Superficial Gallery yet. He is lonely. 🙂
hallo i em ivy
I really am lonely – send them my way!
WEEEEEEEEEE HELLO!
