Just off of the Toronto International Film Festival, The Awakening is a gothic horror story set in post WWI England. Atmospheric English countryside? Check. Haunted orphanage? Check. Spirited protagonist that doesn’t believe in ghosts….yet? Check. Ghostly happenings during a shower scene? Check and check.
Not sure when The Awakening will make its widespread US release, but it could be a decent choice for Halloween horror if it hits the theaters this fall.

I hope so – it’s been a horror drought this year. Hopefully we’ll get some good indie flicks from the festival circuit – otherwise, I think we’re stuck with Paranormal Activity 3…
