The little girl told her father she would be home soon.
She’s only going to the swimming hole.
Every footstep carries her closer to the boy.
Still a little worried.
She sat on a rock at the water’s edge.
There was no moon that night.
Nightswimming deserves a quiet night
She did not know those people over there
She made herself not leave
The fear of missing him
Of losing any moment
She didn’t hear them coming
She never turned around.
