Kittens, today is Labor Day, which means (in addition to celebrating the contributions of laborers in the United States), fall weather is approaching the northern hemisphere, kids are going back to school, and Halloween is less than two months away. It is also traditionally the time that Starbucks celebrates the return of fall with their cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove-laced Pumpkin Spice Latte, an annual sighting that signals the start of autumn for many fans.
Admittedly, I’ve never personally cared for pumpkin and coffee together (and Starbucks themselves nearly passed on the flavor when the Pumpkin Spice Latte was originally proposed ten years ago), but I know how near and dear the PSL’s return is to the hearts of many of my fellow fall-lovers. While the Pumpkin Spice Latte does not officially return until after the Labor Day weekend, but you can use the code “PSL10” to order a PSL from your barista sub rosa until then. And if you are the kind of person who prefers their Pumpkin Spice Latte homemade (or if Starbucks happens to run out like they have in previous years), you can try this recipe from Copykat.com, where you can find more recipe details and printable step-by-step directions.

“There’s a happy feeling nothing in the world can buy… when they pass around the latte with the pumpkin pie… spice flavouring!” Hmmm… needs work, sweetie. I’ll have to get back to you on that one. 😉
“It’s the most wonnnnnnnderful time of the year!” 🙂
Yes yes yes!!!
I have heard the cold version of this is outstanding – I may have to give it a try until it is cool enough out to order a cup of hot coffee!
Cold? Eeeeeeeewwww….
Argh. Think you’re so good with your northern hemisphere. Hmph.
I swear we’ll stop geeking out over the change in seasons soon. To be honest, it was nearly 100 degrees here last weekend and I doubt we’ll see real fall weather make an appearance for another two months. A ghoul can dream, though!
Nah, I’m only funnin’. Enjoy it for me.
I love this post!
Thanks, Sharon! 🙂
Okay so I went and tried it for the first time tonight. I’m not usually the snobby coffee person, but it is pretty good. 🙂
Whipped cream has a funny way of making most things better. 😉
