The 2013 horror convention schedule is quickly coming to a close and man, what a way to wrap up a stellar year of good ole’ con fun! It appears that New Jersey is the place to be for conventions – at least the weekend of December 13-15 it is. Atlantic City is hosting the first ever Bizarre AC horror expo at the Tropicana Casino and Resort. The guest list is to die for…..literally. Featuring the likes of Bill Moseley, Michael Berryman, and Heather Langenkamp, this convention boasts a healthy schedule of autograph sessions, photos and Q&A panels. The interesting element to this convention is that it seeks to please your gastronomical side as well. Whatever do I mean, you ask? Well, let me explain….in their words, “Join the culinary team at Tropicana and local culinary personalities as they host a terrifying dining surprise. BIZARRE Bites is a unique experience in savoring food from bugs to balls…Bizarre Bites will feature odd dishes and deliciously revolting cocktails”….sounds divine… Richard Christie is also hosting an off-the-wall beer tasting tour on Friday the 13th to kick off the con weekend. That alone makes me want to be there.
On the same weekend, about 30 minutes away in Hammonton, NJ, is Jersey Comic Con Christmas Spectacular (gonna take a wild shot in the dark here but I don’t think that Santa’s Elves had anything to do with organizing this con). Held at the Kerri Brooke, this convention has an equally impressive guest list. Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad and Revolution fame will be on hand to sign autographs and take photographs. The Walking Dead fans will also be pleased with the attendance of season 3 stars Travis Love “Shumpert”, Theo Crane “Big Tiny” and Daniel Thomas May “Alan”. Be sure to also check out their guest list for all the information on celebrity guests and vendors.
The great thing is that these two conventions are only 30-45 minutes apart. No need for einy, meenie, miney or moe!! The entry fees to both are very reasonable (be sure to check their sites for exact pricing) and it is quite possible that you could go to TWO (!) great conventions and be in horror heaven all in one weekend (man that Santa guy is good!!). So Happy Conning Holidays everyone, and let’s send 2013 packing in style!
