February is For Convention Lovers….Part Deux

Ohhhh…East coast convention lovers… do I have something for you. The first full weekend in February is treat sent straight from Cupid. Days of the Dead is hosting an amazing convention set to take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. This thing is massive! Apparently everyone who did not sign up for Fear FestEvil in San Francisco or Wizard World in New Orleans signed up for this one. There is literally something for everyone at this convention. Bill Moseley (double check on him as he was just called to jury duty)  and Sid Haig, the lovely Rob Zombie muses, will be on hand. AMC’s The Walking Dead fans will be happy that Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes), Vincent Ward (Oscar), and Travis Love (Shumpert) will be signing autographs and smiling for the camera. Oh, and it doesn’t stop there…. Linda Blair is there (love her). Dee Snider from Twisted Sister is making an appearance as well. That alone makes me want to go!! Toe Tag will be presenting Splatitude: A Celebration of Gore, Masks, FX, and exploding heads (wowzers!).

Days of the Dead Atlanta

There is one guest in particular that I think everyone that is going to the convention needs to make an effort to see. That guest is Damien Echols. If you are at all familiar with The West Memphis 3 case then you will want to see him. He is one of three men (teenagers at the time) that were convicted of murder and sentenced. Damien spent an obscene amount of time on death row. Recently the convictions were overturned and he was released. His story is amazing. I actually studied his case when I was in college and the trials and tribulations these guys went through were gut wrenching. Because of the unwavering efforts of celebrities such as Johnny Depp, Eddie Veder, and Natalie Maines the case was brought back into courtroom. He is appearing Saturday, February 8th.  There will also be a live performance of The Nightmare Before Christmas with none other than Chris Sarandon. Seriously…. I don’t think this convention could get any better if it tried. The prices are crazy reasonable (now until Feb 5 a weekend pass is just $50!!!) so go to Days of the Dead for ticket prices, purchases, and most of all their amazing line up!

Check out this cool video from Nathan Hamilton about the upcoming convention.

Happy Conning everyone!!

  1. Now I’m wondering who let that guy into my formal parlor to shoot his video.
