Friday Night Features: “Pictured” Short Film

Earlier this year, filmmaker David F. Sandberg scared the internet’s collective pants off with his short film Lights Out.  For this week’s featured horror short, we’re revisiting David’s creepy apartment setting with his follow-on horror short, Pictured. Once again, an unusual noise prompts an investigation from actress Lotta Losten, the flat’s sole occupant, and dialogue is eschewed for crisp sound effects and scoring that more than convey the growing ominousness of the presence lurking in the apartment. Although perhaps not quite as terrifying as Lights Out, Pictured creates a tremendous amount of tension by capitalizing on our innate dread of things that move in the shadows of our perception, wordless and waiting for the moment when our eyes are closed. Enjoy!
