How messed up would it be if there were a bunch of people who dressed up as really scary monsters and went around trying to scare people all the time but instead of people thinking that they were scary they just thought they were funny.
That would flip your world right upside down, wouldn’t it? You with your fancy car and your haircut you got at a business that specializes in haircuts. Stuck up snob. I hope a clown gets you!

Acadia,
I might be biased. I like clowns.
Le Clown
I was wondering if you’d reply to this one. I figured you would. But see, you’re the scariest kind of clown of all.
Now really, Madame. That’s
completelymostlymore or less not true! 😉You’re much kinder than I am, Eva.
WHAT? I’m slipping!
😀
Le Clown, you have a free pass presently.
I am terrified of clowns. That picture is evil.
Ha, you should have seen the one I thought about using – it was a big animated gif that looped Pennywise the Clown smiling with his pointy, pointy teeth. It’s terribly good! 🙂
Pennywise doesn’t scare me nearly as much as the clown here, lol. It’s too reminiscent of the start of my fears of clowns (I had a Raggedy Andy clown doll, dreamt it came to life and tried to kill me). That clown is about to do all sorts of horrible things to that girl. *shivers*
That little shushing gesture he’s making is thoroughly creepy.
Yes. Nefarious intentions indeed!
I don’t like clowns either. You just know they’re thinking of sick, twisted things to do to people.
Noooo. They’re just thinking, “I only want to entertain you…..WITH TERROR.”
Holy Hell! Of all of the 31 things, THOSE are the worst! Freaking scary ass monsters. I don’t even like the word c-l-o-w-n! ok.. now I have myself freaked out and scared in the middle of the afternoon!
I’m so glad I didn’t post the worse picture to go with the video!
Oh I couldn’t watch the video! NOOOOO!
I’ve always hated clowns–big fear. Most people think it’s funny I have this fear, but I think it’s scary.
I think those kinds of things from our childhood like dolls and clowns that are human but NOT QUITE twist so easily into something deeply unsettling and horrible.
Ronald McDonald causes heart disease!??! I’m shattered… 😦
It is disappointing, isn’t it? Good thing cake is still completely good for you. 🙂
Am I winning something with this?
Besides the hearts and minds of our readers, darling?
Clowns are creepy! You know that painting of the tragic clown? Creepy!
Oooo, that’s a good one, too. Maybe I need a whole post of creepy clown pictures!
That’s exactly what you need!
Duly noted, darling. 🙂
Clowns are so creepy, I agree. When I was young two things really scared me: Clowns and dolls. Still didn’t figure out which one I hate the most…
Oh, I have
badgood news – I have it on good authority that Creepy Dolls will be making an appearance in Acadia’s Scary Things this month! 😉In the meantime, have you seen this haunted island in Mexico that’s just completely festooned with dolls and doll parts?
I saw it before, and it is my absolutely worst nightmare… All those fake plastic babies staring back at you with their weird eyes, Ugh…
I know, I’ll take possibly evil clowns any day if horrible dolls is the alternative!
I’m not scared of clowns, but this post reminded me of the Shel Silverstein poem “Cloony the Clown,” about the clown who wasn’t funny until he cried. http://famouspoetsandpoems.com/poets/shel_silverstein/poems/14822
Ohh, how bitterly tragic. I am Pagliacci, indeed.
I have always been a fan of Horror & everything Halloween. Everyone laughs at me, because the only thing that scares me are dolls and clowns! I’m not the type to run, scream and cry, but boy do they freak me out!
They are the worst. I can’t wait to hear what you think of Scary Thing #21 (Creepy Dolls) – Acadia will have it up this month! 🙂
The modern ‘Barnam & Bailey’ style circus clown creeps me out.
I think it’s those exaggerated features, plus the association with small children.
It’s like when parents force kids to sit on the lap of Creepy Mall Santa. The kids don’t want to do it but some parents force them do so. They tell the kids that it’s fun and they’re supposed to like Creepy Mall Santa (or Scary Circus Clown). The kids just cry and the parents get all mad… like it’s the kids’ fault for not liking this repellent creature. Wake up, folks. Kids are scared of these guys. Why? Because they’re CREEPY! *deep cleansing breath*
Sorry, sweetie. DIdn’t mean to rant. (((blush)))
Don’t worry, darling. Holidays and the evil undead do tend to have that effect on folks.
You are so understanding, sweetie. Looking forward to your next article. As we say down in Arkansas, “Ah cain’t wait!”
where’s that picture from? need that, which photograph or picture title? thanks a lot!
I don’t have a lot of information on it, Ferdinand. It’s a 5×7 large format photo from the 1940’s that went up for auction on ebay in June of 2011. It’s shown up on various Tumblrs since then, but I haven’t seen anyone adding more information on its provenance since the original auction post, which you can find here. Good luck!
