Kittens, it is time for another installment of Friday Night Features, your home for horror shorts on the web! Tonight’s feature is the 2008 There Are Monsters, written and directed by Jay Dahl. This film tells the unsettling story of a snowy Canadian town where things have suddenly, quietly, started to go very wrong. I confirmed with Jay that a feature-length version of this film is in the works and due to be out this year. In the meantime, you can see more of Jay’s work via the Black Dog Films channel on YouTube.

Eva,
This is one of my favourite features of your site. Kudos for sharing these shorts.

Thank you, darling. It may not be my most popular feature, but it’s really become my favorite, too. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying it! 🙂
There is a kid like that in my neighborhood. Creepy.
There’s one in every neighborhood. Or in the case of this town, a whole legion of them. 😉
That is neat
Thanks, SC! The ending could have been a little more nuanced, but I thought they did a great job creating a creepy atmosphere.
I can’t watch it…
Try it now!
